The fourth generation XD Ford Falcon was introduced in March 1979 and although based on the mechanicals and underpinnings of the XC, had an all new design (with a similarity to the European Ford Granada). The new generation also brought along the new ZJ Ford Fairlane, released in May 1979, and the FC Ford LTD, released in June 1979. The facelifted XE Ford Falcon was released in March 1982 along with the ZK Ford Fairlane and FD Ford LTD. The last facelift of the fourth generation was the XF Ford Falcon, ZL Ford Fairlane and impressive FE Ford LTD released in October 1984. The fourth generation was replaced in February 1988 by the stylish fifth-generation EA Ford Falcon. The XF Ute model lasted until April 1991 when it was replaced by the XG update. The E-Series did not have a ute model, with the XH Falcon being replaced by the AU ute in April 1999.

XF Falcon GT-HO

This GTHO was the idea of motor magazine, Street Machine in 1987. Under the title One Ho To Go, it was a gimmick where they modified a then modern-day Falcon to commemorate the 20th year anniversary of the GT Falcon (1967). When it was finished, it was given away through a competition where you had to collect coupons and answer a quiz correctly.

This is a modified last-off-the-line XE Falcon 5.8L. (As when Ford ended the life of the V8 during the XE model, they replaced the Falcon's front crossmember and its triginometry, as it only had to cater for the sixes. An XF 351 V8 would not be certified).

I don't have any performance stats at this time. All I know is the Monza Red paint is very expensive, it has a Momo steering wheel (Momo Ghibli 3), Recaro sports seats (Recaro Orthopaedic LX's), aluminium alloy Compomotive wheels, Pirelli P700's all-around (225x50VRC 16s beaded on the front rims. 245x45 VRC 16s at the rear).
